The Birds
by Aristophanes
Directed by Charles B. Davis
Seney-Stovall Chapel
February 12-15,18-22 at 8:00pm,
and February 16 at 2:30 pm

This 414 BCE comedy by Aristophanes is a fantasy that satirizes utopias, imperialist
colonization and the less desirable elements of civilizations and governments. Two
Athenian men escape from the city and find the Hoopoe, a mythical bird. Their
meeting culminates in a utopian city of birds. This meeting production will feature a
puppet chorus, music, wild costumes, and clever puns.
