Multidisciplinary Arts Faculty Position in Mechatronics, Robotics, and
Telematic art forms in the new Center for Digital Arts and Experimental
Media at the University of Washington in Seattle.  The Center is a newly
established Arts unit on campus with exciting undergraduate and doctoral
degree programs. DXARTS brings together current and new faculty from Art,
Music, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Architecture in a
pioneering research environment dedicated to the invention and
exploration
of new forms of digital and experimental art. The position is a
full-time,
tenure-track position to begin in September 2004, at the rank of
Assistant
Professor. The UW School of Art will be the home department while the
majority of duties will be to teach and carry out innovative research in
the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media.  Applicants must hold
at least a Master's degree or the equivalent in one or more arts and
sciences related fields, and demonstrate the ability to teach at the
university level. We seek an individual who is an accomplished artist who
makes innovative use of digital technologies in their works, as well as
someone with a strong background in advanced computing based research
areas such as mechatronics, robotics, sensors and control systems,
systems
based art forms, rapid prototyping, programming for interactive and
distributed environments, and physical computing, etc. The position
includes responsibilities for research and teaching undergraduate and
graduate interdisciplinary arts courses in one or more of these areas.

and
a cohesive portfolio of professional creative work. Support materials

samples of previous course design and recent student work. Portfolio work
may be formatted for viewing on any platform and may include video.
