STREAM brings innovative arts to the public through performances, exhibitions and workshops.
To inaugurate its first season, STREAM will present a free public performance and demonstration
of interactive audio technology on June 24 at 6pm at ICE (Ideas for Creative Expression) on the
campus of UGA. The event is an excellent opportunity to get to know STREAM and ICE and their
activities. STREAM is on the web at <http://streamarts.org>.

Composer and STREAM founder Eric Marty will perform and demonstrate "Max/MSP," a software
environment for interactive audio and multimedia. Marty's music is heard in Canada, France and
the US, and has won awards from the CBC, ASCAP and the Canada Council. ICE is located in the

STREAM Summer Workshops
Ongoing throughout the summer (Contact STREAM for location and schedule)

STREAM is offering two workshops on an ongoing basis. The "Max/MSP" workshop introduces
participants to Max/MSP, an interactive software environment for audio, video, MIDI, and almost
anything you can imagine. This workshop is ideal for performers, composers, installation artists,
multimedia artists, and anyone interested in interactive art or music. No previous training is
required. The "Game Music" workshop is an exciting improvisation and performance workshop
for musicians, performers & thrill seekers. This workshop draws on Inuit and Indonesian musical
games and activities, and on ideas of Bobby McFerrin, Frank Zappa, Steve Reich and others. The
workshop develops musicianship, ensemble skills, creativity and imagination and is ideal for
individuals, bands, or ensembles. No previous music training or instrument required. Both
workshops are 8 hours in 4 sessions. To register, email [log in to unmask] or call 706

3. "Scenes from the X-Ray Cafe, Vol.1" is now available for purchase online <http://
www.cdbaby.com/cd/xraycafe>. Beginning in November 2003, several musicians producing
experimental, ambient, and pop electronica in Athens, GA began holding monthly multimedia gigs
at a local coffee shop owned and operated by Paul Thomas. As the shows grew in size and scope,
the idea of taking a recorded snapshot of the events soon took hold. Laid down along with
snippets of conversations and native ambience, Scenes From The X-Ray Café, Vol. 1 captures
some of the vibe of those evenings by focusing on a few of the regular artists that made these
performances special. Included herein are local ambient Gods (the Noisettes), the best kept pop
secret in the city (Green Lawns), cut and paste wizards (Paul Thomas, Manipulated Sound Source),
one psychedelic big beats lover (The QRM), and various sirens of abstract circuitry (MonkE, Felt
Battery, Crunchifus). This first release also contains two specially produced Quicktime films, and a
nifty Flash instrument for listeners to play along with. The production of "Scenes from the X-Ray
Cafe, Vol.1" was supported in part by a project grant from ICE.
