1. The Three-Layer Cake Tour: Call For Venues

Three Athens based artists, Audrey Molinare, Erin Burke, and Danielle Benson, invite members of
the community to submit their homes as potential venues for their upcoming art installation tour!

The three graduate students, at the University of Georgia, have been working collaboratively since
March of last year, exploring alternative venues for art installation. The Three-Layer Cake Tour,
made possible by an ICE project grant, will include three openings that each take place in a
different home in Athens, Georgia.

The artists are looking for three residences in Athens, where the they can embark on a
transformation of space. The installation period of one week will conclude with an opening
reception that will be open to the public. The parameters of the use of space will be determined by
resident(s), through negotiation with the artists. This is a great way to get involved with the art
community in Athens and at the University of Georgia!

Lecture - Rehearsing the Revolution: Using “Theater of the Oppressed” to address Identity, and
Power in Language Education. Sponsored by the College of Education Dean's Council on Diversity
& Center for Lationo Achievement and Success in Education. This workshop will demonstrate
theater games created by Brazilian activist/director, Augusto Boal, as means to identify issues of
language, identity and power. Dr. Melisa Cahnmann will share how she has used these games as
part of her research and practice with pre-service bilingual teachers and the on-going results
from the Teachers for English Language Learners Project. Noon - 1:00 PM. 601 Aderhold Hall.
