1. Monday, January 10, 2005:
Athens – Athens Area Arts Council Lyndon house Arts Center
10:30 a.m.
The Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) will hold application workshops for all organizations
interested in applying for grants for fiscal year 2006. The Council takes applications for arts
funding in the visual, literary and performing arts, folk arts and arts education. Eligible applicants
include arts organizations, schools and other organizations seeking support for arts projects. All
applicants must be incorporated in Georgia as non-profit organization and must have been
granted 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service, or be units of local or state
government. Guidelines and application forms will be available at the workshops and on the GCA
website at www.gaarts.org. All organizations planning to apply for a grant are encouraged to have
the person who will complete the application attend. All workshops are free and no advance
registration is required.

The FY06 Guidelines will have extensive changes due to suggestions offered at a series of
taskforce meetings conducted by GCA staff. One such change includes the introduction of a
universal application section for all GCA Grants. The workshop format will include a 90-minute
application workshop along with an hour reserved for one-on-one meetings with GCA program
staff.
