UGA Arts Council
Call for Student Representatives
Deadline: June 16
https://arts.uga.edu

The University of Georgia Arts Council is seeking self-nominations for two graduate student and at least one undergraduate student representatives. The Arts Council brings together campus leaders to facilitate arts research and practice, to integrate the arts into the UGA student experience, to engage with community partners, and to communicate faculty, staff, and student achievements to regional, national, and international communities. The Arts Council advises the Office of the Provost and advocates for strategic support of the arts at the University of Georgia.

Student representatives play a vital role on the Arts Council by providing a student perspective. Student representatives are also asked to communicate information about Arts Council events and projects to other students, particularly through established student organizations.

Arts Council student representatives must be able to attend Arts Council meetings, typically held monthly at 4 p.m. on Mondays and scheduled in advance.

Applicants must be currently enrolled UGA students who are not graduating before May 2024. Applicants must be in good academic standing and should possess strong communication skills and enthusiasm for the arts at UGA.

Students of all majors are encouraged to self-nominate. Faculty and administrators who know great potential applicants should encourage those students to self-nominate.

Students selected to serve on the Arts Council will serve from August 2023 through May 2024 and may reapply in the future.

To apply for the position, students should submit:

1. A short personal statement (300 words or fewer) about why you wish to join the Arts Council, what you will bring to the organization, and what you hope to get from the experience

2. A brief list of relevant UGA activities and involvement in the arts

3. A resume or CV including preferred email address

4. Your projected graduation date

Email submissions to [log in to unmask] no later than June 16th.
Interviews will be conducted in late June/early July with final selections made by the end of July.
