1. Artist Talk: Bonnie Rychlak & Jeanne Silverthorne

New York-based pioneering sculptors, Bonnie Rychlak and Jeanne Silverthorne, will be in conversation about their two-person exhibition at the Dodd Galleries, Down and Dirty, with Director of the Dodd Galleries, Dr. Katie Geha. Down & Dirty is an exhibition featuring sculptures and videos by New York-based artists, Jeanne Silverthorne and Bonnie Rychlak. Shown together for the first time in their decades' long careers, the work spans from 1991 to 2020. Sharing in their respective affection for rubber and wax, the artists look to everyday objects for inspirations, objects that are deflated or are incongruously repurposed or converted to the "dark side" of the non-functional.

In collaboration, Kennesaw State University, the University of Georgia, Emory University, and Walton High School will host a series of guest live presentations by top-notch theatre visionaries on Zoom Webinar during the Spring semester of 2021. The guests include Julie Taymor, Robert Wilson, George Tsypin, and Paul Tazewell. The goal of this collaboration project is to bring the insights of the theatre visionaries into classrooms. 500 participants comprised of students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to share these once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

UGA's Innovation District brings together and amplifies innovation and entrepreneurship programs from across campus. As our innovation ecosystem continues to grow at UGA, we want to ensure that our programs are truly inclusive and represent the diversity of our campus. To facilitate this goal, a focused Innovation Bootcamp program was developed that delivers tailored training in order to equip attendees with the key skills needed for success in an innovative, entrepreneurial environment. The Spring 2021 Bootcamp, which has been designed specifically to examine the unique challenges faced by female entrepreneurs who are also graduate students in STEM fields, begins Feb. 18 and runs through April 11.

The Willson Center Department-Invited Artist or Lecturer program for academic year 2020-21 provides for a $200 matching award to support a virtual presentation. Willson Center Research Seminar

The Willson Center Research Seminar Program provides $2,000 to faculty organizing year-long interdisciplinary discussion groups on particular research topics. The funds are to be used to bring to campus scholars from other institutions. Award is for the following academic year.
Willson Center Faculty Research Grant
Deadline: Monday, February 15
The goal of the Junior and Senior Faculty Research Grants in Humanities and Arts Program is to support and encourage the development of a strong program of research or scholarship by faculty in the humanities and arts. Grants are considered "seed money" for research, in that they should lead to the growth and development of continuing research programs. The Faculty Research Grant (FRG) program is funded by the Office of Research through the University of Georgia Research Foundation.

8. Call For Artists: Athens Mural Alley Project

Murals reflecting the theme "2021, Here and Now" will be painted on panels and exhibited in a downtown alleyway to create a pedestrian-friendly landscape of art, community, and illumination from an otherwise discarded piece of downtown. Artists must live in the Athens area, including the immediate ten surrounding counties. Up to six artists will be selected. Each will receive a stipend of $750.
