* thank you for this - I was totally unaware of this range expansion. 
Todd Morris points out that "Mytilopsis was considered as part of the 
2012 Canadian Dreissenid risk assessment undertaken by DFO 
(https://waves-vagues.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/library-bibliotheque/348700.pdf). 
The risk assessment focused on fresh waters and it was determined that 
the risk of invasion was low given the salinity requirements of 
Mytilopsis. It is unlikely that this species would be in the Great Lakes 
however the risk to estuarine habitats was not considered as part of the 
2012 risk assessment."

I wonder if someone could send me a small bagfull of Mytilopsis shells 
so I can calibrate myself to recognize them in the Great Lakes or along 
the St Lawrence or Bay of Fundy this summer? I could send some eastern 
Ontario Unionids, or Chinese Mystery Snails, or a copy of our book about 
Lake Ontario or Terrestrial Gastropods in return.
