Hi,
I did not use the latest version of DSSAT (4.5) but did use the DSSAT
4.0 for some simulations. One thing I noticed was that the 'emergence
date' in planting details section works only in the case of potato and
not other crops!. Was this corrected in the 4.5 version? What is the
version Kendal is using?
Thanks
sasi

Hello Kendall,
In the experiment file (*.mzx) you can specify emergence date. In the
section *PLANTING DETAILS you indicate planting date (PDATE) and
emergence
date (EDATE). The model simulates emergence in case this information is
not
available. But if you know emergence dates in your experiments you
better
reduce uncertainty associated with inputs.

Does this solve your problem, or still you need some fine tuning of
genetic
coefficients?

Best regards,
Jon

Asunto: CERES-Maize emergence calibration

Hello all,

I am a PhD student at Colorado State University using DSSAT and
CERES-Maize
to evaluate limited irrigation of corn. Model simulations I have
created
generally agrees with observed data. However, all growth parameters
occur
approximately 6-10 days earlier in the model than observed, including
emergence, anthesis date, leaf #, LAI, etc. I am curious if there are
any
adjustments that can be made to the model to push emergence back to
observed
dates. Obviously, the planting date could be adjusted, but I am looking
for
any in-model parameters that can be used for calibration.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you,

Kendall DeJonge
