Risk Management Solutions (RMS) part of Moody's Analytics is looking for a Senior Modeller in Agriculture to join the Emerging Risk Group. Emerging risk group, a multi-disciplinary group is part of RMS' model development group, which develops models for agriculture, pandemics, longevity, terrorism, casualty and workers compensation, liability and business interruption/supply chains. 

The objective of the senior modeller, Agriculture in the emerging risk group is to develop crop risk models for a variety of climate perils and territories, as well as insurance types. Also to engage in the development of livestock and forestry loss solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

•	Carry out research into novel methodologies and introduce them to the agriculture model development processes
•	Be agile and adapt to the changing needs of solutions
•	Willingness to explore and learn new technologies, particularly in data science and apply them to modelling
•	Aspire to become a subject matter expert and “go to” person within the team as well as in the company for external clients
•	Work with other modellers to execute and deliver solutions in projects
•	Presenting work internally and to clients in meetings
•	Publish the work in conferences, journals and attend scientific meetings to understand the latest science as well as raise the RMS profile

Experience Required

•	MSc or PhD in crop science, agri-meteorology or related field
•	Good understanding of the state of the art in crop growth simulation methods, modelling crop yields and physical damage to crops from weather events
•	2+ years of experience working in crop science or related is ideal
•	Working in an interdisciplinary environment and projects, and integrating with other teams outside of modelling
•	Excellent communication skills, presenting internally to staff as externally to clients
•	Proficiency in data analysis and data manipulation
•	Knowledge of statistics and statistical modelling, data science applications is a distinct plus
•	Proficiency in data manipulation software and experience in programming languages, i.e. FORTRAN, C++, Matlab, R, Python or equivalent
•	Experience or knowledge in DSSAT, APSIM or similar is a bonus
•	Working knowledge of GIS and SQL server applications would be a bonus
