Dear colleagues

The Julius Kuehn-Institute at Braunschweig (www.jki.bund.de) offers a two year PostDoc position.

We are a research institution and federal authority within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV.)

We are seeking for the institute of crop and soil science - at Braunschweig a

Research assistant / Postdoc

at the earliest possible time limited to 30 September 2015 for the research project "Regional determination of the current agricultural yield potential of crops due to the coupling of growth models with actual vegetation parameters derived from remote sensing data - RiflE".

Primary responsibilities
.       Setup and coordination of a network of reference farms in Germany;
.       Processing of remote sensing data, development of automated processing chains;
.       Implementation and evaluation of reflectance measurements in field trials;
.       Collection and analysis of vegetation parameters from field reflectance measurements;
.       Application and programming of crop growth simulation models;
.       Preparation of project reports and presentation of results;
.       Creation of publications together with the project team.
Qualifications
.       PhD in agronomy, environmental science or related sciences;
.       Extensive knowledge and experience in the methods of remote sensing, geostatistics and geographic information systems;
.       Ability to analyze complex issues;
.       Results oriented, innovative, and capable to thrive in a team-based work environment
.       Ideally, programming skills (Python, idl, or VBA);
.       Ability to present facts for different audiences orally and in writing;
.       Write and speak English and German fluently, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skill;
.       Driving license.

We offer
.       employment with 39 working hours /week;
.       Remuneration according to grade 13 TVöD. The employment relationship is based on the collective agreement for the civil service (TVöD).
