Dear colleagues,

If you are attending AGU this year and intend to present on agriculture and climate, we hope you will consider our session that explores the interactions between climate, crops, and water with a focus on recent advances and remaining uncertainties. We invite both modeling and observational analyses.

Session GC083: https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm22/prelim.cgi/Session/158088

GC083 - The effects of climate on land, water, and vegetation in the food system: next season to next century

We invite proposals that advance knowledge of how climate and climate change will affect future agriculture through relevant land-surface, hydrologic, and vegetation processes. Our session focuses on mechanisms and uncertainties of future risks and opportunities across seasonal, decadal, and climate change timescales. We welcome both modeling and observationally-based studies focused on climate variability, climate change, and the role of the land surface and plant physiology, including topics such as: CO2 physiological effects in crops, the relevance of future land-atmosphere interactions to the food system, forecasting agriculturally-relevant climate extremes at all timescales, crop yield prediction, the effects of climate change on agriculture, and changes to agriculturally-relevant water availability and use.
