James!  Haven't ya heard?  Hawaii is now a state!  :-)
        No customs forms involved.  Just send it as you would to any other
state.
        As for filling out customs forms when you are sending things out of
the country, best to be straightforward.  "Spoiled meat" would certainly get
your box confiscated.  I once experimented with alternate listings on
customs slips, in an effort to make the contents sound a bit less attractive
and marketable.  Labeling the box "zoological specimens", while accurate,
got the box held up in customs until I sent an explanatory letter.  "Sea
shells" is your best bet.  "Raw seashells" is also good.  To a customs
inspector, this means plain, unworked shells (as opposed to jewelry made
from shells, etc., which might be taxed).
