There are technical rules on the pronunciation of Latin and Latin derived words, however those rules are argued by various authorities. The augments tend to be more from one language groups interpretation to another’s. The rules of Italian and Spanish are a reasonable mimic of the Latin pronunciation rules. 10 years ago I was told by numerous sources that although R.T. did a good job on the tape and book there are a lot of errors in his pronunciations.
