Hello Folks, Many years ago I received a specimen identified as a Pleurotomaria from Jurassic deposits in England. I just retrieved it out of the archives (otherwise known as the pile of boxes in my basement). It has a shoulder band that might represent a filled-in slit, but no evidence of an open slit. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether this is truly a Pleurotomaria? It is an old fossil (fully petrified). You can see it via the link below (hopefully - last time, folks had trouble with this). If anyone cannot open the link, I'll be glad to send you the picture directly. Paul M. http://members.home.net/paulcyp/SLITFOSSIL.JPG
