Javier, Corel PHOTOPAINT 7 saves any newly created image as .CPT to assure that no information is lost; that's its 'default' "save". This includes images that were 'pasted' from the "clipboard". (I don't doubt that 'Uncle Bill' tried like h... to get that word copyrighted!) If a .GIF or .JPG shell image is opened, PhotoPaint will save it as that same type of file automatically,... unless you have altered its image color properties--e.g., a 24-bit-color .JPG has been converted to a 'palletted' 8-bit image. If you convert a 24-bit .JPG to a palletted 8-bit image (usually with a very noticible loss of color quality and resolution), you can save it as a .GIF but no longer as .JPG (unless you 'undo' the change). Likewise, you can convert a .GIF to .JPG (with NO improvement in color and resolution) and save it as a .JPG image, but it will be a bigger file, usually. I'm with several of the others who use PhotoPaint 7. I started with PhotoPaint 6 but it lacked the functionality needed for World Wide Web publishing. My copy came from a "bargain bin" in a CompUSA store; cost about US$80, some 18 months ago or more. Hope that answers some questions. makuabob (a.k.a.
