Hi, I few years ago I put together a few web pages on the Knobbed Whelk, which is Georgia's state shell. The pages have some basic information on the animal's life history and illustrations of the shells and egg cases of the four species of whelks commonly found in the Georgia coastal area. There is also a short list of references. http://www.arches.uga.edu/~amylyne/GSC/whelk.html Amy
