Dear Oliver: Have you had oportunity to review this with data from any of these referances: Nordsiek, Fritz - 1977 The Turridae of the European Seas, Ed La Piramide per La Conchiglia / Distrib by Evolver Srl, 131 pp, 26 pl, Bouchet, Philippe & Anders Warren - 1985 Revision of the Northeast Atlantic Bathyal & Abyssal Turridae (Mollusca, Gastropoda) Part 1 Journal of Molluscan Studies Supplement 8, rpt ed (original Dec 1980), 119 pp, 281 figs Bilal Öztürk - 2001 Turridae Swainson, 1840 Species (Gastropoda-Mollusca) of Izmir Bay (Aegean Sea), Turkish Journal of Zoology 25(1):53-56, Leslie -------------------------- Dear planet What is the exact (if this could exist) range of the Turrid Crassopleura maravignae (Bivona in Bivona, 1838). I read "Atlantic & Mediterranean", but what is included in this "Atlantic" ? An other question: many European Turrids & other fam. range from "Norway to Mediterranean", with a hole in the distribution around the Channel & the North Sea ; the ranges often run off the western coasts of British Isles, & avoid the waters from Nederland to Normandy. Any idea to explain such a hole ? Thanks everybody!! Olivier Caro [log in to unmask]
