Dear Munang,

Sorry for my inability to keep in touch for some time now. Many things to attend to apart from teaching and marking.

As regards your requests, I think the scope of your work seems quite large and you may need to rediscuss with supervisors to narrow down considerably. Those of us in the modeeling field know that simulations for even one ncrop type can be a challenge. You want to run simulations for 7 crop types for which data would not be easily available. And to couple climate vairability to this ia another challenge. Perhaps you sould limit to maize (you can check the Lit on Maize:  RUE = 2.1g/MJ for highly fertillized sttuations, extinction coefficient 0.45 (see Muchow, R.C. 1988: Field Crop Res., 18, 1-16; Muchow et al (1990) Agron. J. 82:338-343

Rooting depth up to 1.0 m. Transpiration efficiency 0.009 kg/(kg kPa). The LAI varies with growth stage and there is no single value.  Max LAI depends on fertilizer treatment but may not exceed 3-4 m2/m2. There are thermal time values for different stages, eg. emergence to silking, silking to maturity. etc. I suggest you consult the book on CERES-Maize by Kiniry and his colleagues and you can get all the stuff on maize.

Bye

Samuel
