Hello All.

I've long wondered about this outpost in the Pacific. I realize seems
to be just about impossible to get to Nauru, but it would seem to be an
interesting study in major ecological changes and with all the world
travelers here I was hopeing someone may have actually visited this
location. My limited understanding of Nauru is that the island was once
an absolutely beutiful location, but was mined very heavily for the
phosphates (from bird droppings) until a point that the island is baically
stripped bare. Being that it is in the middle of the tropical-Pacific it
would seem that it should have comparable marine life to say Micronesia,
but the ecological damage may temper that diversity.

Does anyone have any other insights of first-hand knowledge of Nauru?

Thanks.

Doug
