Like many others, over the years, I have tried to collect most of the shells listed in Dance's 1969, "Rare Shells". The last two for me however are well beyond my means, namely Perotrochus quoyana and Pholadomya candida (a couple of my 'ultra rares' are hardly gem however). Frankly, I'm happy that at least a couple of those shells are unattainable (for me, anyway). I was amazed however to see that someone one was offering the whole lot of 50 shells for $25,000. That seems pretty amazing to me. Odd too; I think half the fun of doing this over the years has been slowly accumulating them. Anyway, assuming that these are all Gem quality, does that seem to be the cash value of the Dance collection? Just wondering. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [log in to unmask] - a forum for informal discussions on molluscs To leave this list, click on the following web link: http://listserv.uga.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=conch-l&A=1 Type your email address and name in the appropriate box and click leave the list. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
