n crop yields, farm income, and trade, making them important tools for exam=
ining food security. This session will focus on research at the interface o=
f climate, agriculture, and economics, including results from the Agricultu=

Climate variability (CV) is a critical driver of climate change impacts to =
both managed and unmanaged ecosystems. To properly understand its ecologica=
l impacts, it=E2=80=99s necessary to quantify how ecosystems have historica=
lly responded to climate variability, and to characterize the uncertainty i=
n projected impacts. In agricultural systems, assessing impacts of climate =
variability also requires understanding dynamics of farmer adaptation and d=
ecision-making. Here we seek new efforts to quantify both historical and fu=
ture impacts of climate variability on unmanaged ecosystems and in agricult=
ure, the most extensive managed ecosystem: e.g., i) empirical/process-based=
