Subject: [CONCH-L] West Indian Fighting Conch

External.

May need some information on the West Indian Fighting conch in the Lake Worth Lagoon. This morning I listened to a webinar by the Environmental Research Management. One of the presentations has to do with the dredging of a known habitat of the West Indian Fighting Conch, Strombus pugilis. This may be one of the only places where both S. pugilis and S. alatus live together, but in order to try to counteract this dredging, I need cold hard facts. I also may need you to write letters, but that will be later. Hopefully, this latest upset will be resolved in our favor. Although, we did keep mollusks out of the no take rule.
At the same webinar, I learned of plans to put in mangrove islands in an area where the only east coast population of Neverita delessertiana lives. I spoke to one of the ERM people just a few months ago about that area, so he is aware of the fragility of the population.
If anyone has any input, please let me know. I swear, I am getting too old and too tired for this stuff.
