1. A brief introduction to IGSNRR, CAS and the research team
The Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGSNRR, CAS, http://english.igsnrr.cas.cn/) is a multidisciplinary research institute focusing on physical geography and global change, human geography and regional development, natural resources and environment, geographical information systems and surface simulation, terrestrial water cycle and water resources, ecosystem network observation and modeling, and Chinese agricultural policy. Through the research on these domains, the institute aims to solve the major natural resource and environmental problems related to national sustainable development and improve its own innovative capacity at the same time. IGSNRR is very active in international and domestic cooperation and communication. It has established cooperative arrangements with academic institutions in more than 50 countries and regions.
The research team of Quansheng Ge/Yujie Liu in the Key Laboratory of Land Surface Pattern and Simulation, has been engaged in global change research. Professor Ge, director of Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, got the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars. Professor Liu, the gainer of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, is the deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Land Surface Pattern and Simulation, CAS. Owing to the need of scientific research, the research group is now recruiting an assistantprofessor in institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, Beijing. Scholars who meet the following requirements and are interested in this field are welcome to apply the position.

2.1 Research Fields

2.2 Qualifications
We welcome applications for the faculty position at the level of assistant professor in the Key Laboratory of Land Surface Pattern and Simulation, IGSNRR, CAS. The position duties include:
(1) The applicants have to be citizens or permanent residents of the People’s Republic of China.
(2) The applicants have to have a doctoral degree and have domestic or overseas post-doctoral training experience. The applicants should be in good health and generally under the age of 35.
(3) The applicants need to be qualified with a doctoral degree in agrometeorology, agricultural economics, geography, geographic information science, agricultural science or a related discipline.
(4) The applicants should have a good publication record, published at least 2-3 SCI papers in Q1 and have good written, communication and presentation skills in Both Chinese and English;
(5) The applicants should have a strong mathematical background, be able to implement crop models in research, such as Epic, APSIM or DSSAT and specialize in programming, preferably in MATLAB, R or Python. Overseas study experience is preferred.
(6) The applicants should have a strong interest in scientific research, a good work ethic and a rigorous style of study, the ability to carry out scientific research independently and the spirit of teamwork.
2.3 Position Details
(1) The admitted applicant will enjoy the official salary (no lower than 300,000RMB annually), and be the registered permanent resident of Beijing. The admitted applicant will enjoy other benefits of CAS including the official establishment of CAS and treatment for children entering nursery school;
(2) The salary will be increased to a certain extent base on the academic achievements and performance of the work;
(3) During the employment period, candidates can apply for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, participate in the National Key Research and Development Program and Chinese Academy of Sciences pilot projects, etc. During the program, selected candidates will receive merit pay increases and funding to participate in high-level international academic conferences.
(4) Those with outstanding achievements can apply for associate research positions in advance according to relevant regulations, and apply for the Talent Program of "Kezhen-Bingwei" (grant amount of 800,000 RMB) and other High-level talent programs of CAS.
(5) The position is located in Chaoyang District in Beijing, China.
