Post-Doctoral Researcher position in AgMIP Soybean

We are seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Researcher to join the AgMIP (Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project) Soybean Team (http://agmip.org/soybean-team/). The position is available at the University of Kentucky main campus in Lexington. The goal of AgMIP Soybean is to evaluate and improve soybean process-based eco-physiological models to reduce uncertainty in model simulations, to develop adaptation strategies that ensure global soybean production levels in the face of climate change and an increasing food demand.

This position provides numerous opportunities to interested candidates: (1) gain experience coordinating a new multi-model study to evaluate models under conditions of high atmospheric CO2 with unique data from FACE (Free-Air CO2 Enrichment) experiments; (2) readily available datasets for publication from a multi-model study focused on simulation of crop evapotranspiration (ET) and soybean growth under water stress; (3) collaborations with an international team of crop modelers, data experimentalists, and climatologists within AgMIP.

Key responsibilities: Develop protocols for a new multi-model study, prepare experimental data and model inputs, coordinate collection of model outputs, data analysis, write research manuscripts, present results at international meetings.
Qualifications: PhD in crop modeling or in grain crops ecophysiology or agronomy with experience in the use of a crop simulation model. Strong analytical and scientific writing skills, with proficient knowledge of at least one statistical analysis software and programming language.
Appointment and start date: To be appointed as soon as possible. This position is for nine months and could be extended based on merit and funding. We offer competitive salary and associated benefits.
