23-24 Central Region Ag. Communications CDE Details and Registration 

Registration and Written Media Plan Deadline – Friday, December 15

Registration for CDE is not complete until the Written Media Plan is turned in by Friday, December 15.  

Event Details: 

This event is open to FFA members in grades 9-12 and is a 4 person team. 

At the Area Level, each student will 

• take a 25-question communications quiz 
• and a 25-question editing quiz. 
• They will also submit a written media plan 
• and give a team oral presentation. Each team should present their media plan as if pitching it to the client identified in the scenario. 

Attached is the Media Plan scenario for 2023-24. Your team should use this scenario and client information to create their media plan. 

The media plan is a required portion of both the Area and State CDEs in 2023-24. 

The specifications of the media plan are spelled out in the Agricultural Communications CDE guidelines that are attached and available online in the CDE/LDE portion of the Georgia FFA website.

A change for this year – the editing quizzes will no longer be multiple choice. Students will be expected to know how to properly use editing marks and apply them to a press release with errors in it. Students who do not use editing marks to fix errors will not receive points. Below is a link to some old Area and State Ag Communications CDE editing quizzes. I strongly recommend that you have your students look at quizzes from 2019-20 and before!  The editing quizzes used the past couple of years have been multiple choice and did not require students to actually use editing marks. If your students are preparing for that type of editing quiz, they will be surprised when they get to the Area CDE. Please be sure that your students are adequately prepared.

Registration: 4 PM     

Contest Starts:  4:30 PM 

T-shirts are available for this event and must be ordered online with event registration. 

To register for the CDE:

Go to the AG. Ed. Website and log in.

Click on Event Registration.

Click on Area 3 or Area 4 Ag. Communications CDE Registration.

Click on the edit for each team that you are registering.

Click on edit for the T-shirts that you order. It will make an invoice for your T-shirts.

Bring to the contest:

2 - #2 pencils

Projector and/or Laptop if you are using those in your presentation. Only an easel, screen, and table are provided.

It is recommended that students either wear official dress or a chapter shirt.
