Georgia High School Agriculture Teachers,

For the past three years ABAC Agricultural Education and Communication Department has held an Ag Issues CDE/Invitational.  This is an FFA CDE that happens at the national level but is not yet a full CDE in Georgia.  However, Georgia FFA recognizes our winner and will certify the winning team to compete at the national level events.  The past two years Georgia has done well at the national level.  Please consider preparing your team and competing in this event.  We plan to hose the event Friday, May 3rd at ABAC.

Just as a reminder, Ag Issues takes preparation and creation of a portfolio ahead of the actual event.  Students will develop a topic/identify an issue.  Research the issue, work to complete a report, conduct presentations to targeted groups, and package this information into a portfolio (outlined in the attached Handbook) that is due by April 19, 2024.  As time gets closer, we will send an email address to where those reports can uploaded.

Attached in this e-mail is the Agricultural Issues Forum Handbook. These are the rules for the event posted by the National FFA. We will be following the rules outlined in this handbook for the invitational event.

If you have questions about this event, you can call or email Andrew Thoron ([log in to unmask]) any time.  We had a few teachers ask about Ag Issues counting on their POW.  Currently, this event does not appear as an LDE on the POW.  In order for this event (LDE) to be recognized, in the future, we need stronger participation and participation from all regions.  We are hopeful that within this next academic year, we will reach that level.

Thank you,

ABAC Ag Ed & Comm Dept.
