Jessica,

I have a few maps that mention Witwatersrand in the PSU catalog.  Happy to scan anything.

https://catalog.libraries.psu.edu/?f%5Bformat%5D%5B%5D=Maps%2C+Atlases%2C+Globes&q=Witwatersrand&search_field=all_fields

One is gold land holdings. Images attached.

There are two sets out there.  The 1:250,000 can be seen on this awesome site from the Colorado School of Mines and the map scans are from UT-Austin.

There is a 1:50,000 set out there that Harvard has quite a few sheets from.  I have included our index for that set to help you.

Subject: Maps of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa?

Hi All,

We have a student looking at refuse piles in the Witwatersrand Gold Mining area in Johannesburg South Africa, specifically the Langlaagte dump, Crown Mine Dump, or Top Star Dump.

Do any of you have maps of these areas or know who might? Or know if there are sources of reports on gold mining in the region today or historically?

Jessica
