*** For those counties with GJNLS Beef Cattle exhibitors ***

Greetings Agents and Ag Teachers of Beef Cattle Exhibitors!

Please share with your families and exhibitors.  The superintendents have been working hard getting ready for your arrival. There is a lot of important information attached about stalling, when gates will be open, parking, and expected behavior.

For stalling, please pay attention to the number of head listed for your respective groups and leave enough room for everyone to share.  Groups that are boxed together are stalled in the same assignment.  In the spreadsheet BB stands for Beef/Dairy Barn and MPB stands for Multi-Purpose Barn. No Beef Cattle equipment is allowed in the areas assigned to other species.  DO NOT TAKE SPACE THAT IS NOT ASSIGNED TO YOU!  We have over 1000 head entered!!!

Please be respectful of the GNFA security and parking attendants and follow their instructions.  The GNFA is allowing beef cattle to unload from both the North and South sides of the barns (look at the STOCK SHOW MAP attached).

Gates will be open on Tuesday from 4pm-8pm for TACK ONLY.  Cattle are only allowed on tie-outs. Please plan to arrive accordingly so that you can be out of barns by 8:00pm.  Barns will reopen at 8:00am on Wednesday for beef cattle exhibitors and cattle to get into the barns.   The Beef Office (located in the NE corner of the Multi-Purpose Barn) will be open for questions or concerns.

Please unload trucks and trailers as quickly as possible and then move them to the designated parking area.  DO NOT leave them parked while you make up beds.  Unload tack and cattle and then come back.  We have a lot of animals to get moved into the barns!

Important Reminders

  • Make sure you have your health papers.
  • Double check tattoos and ear tags.  Registered heifers need to have registration certificates at check in. The registration certificate must be made out in the exhibitor’s name ONLY (no farm names, no siblings/dual registration).
  • Check in will be from 1pm-4pm in Sutherland Arena.  There will be 3 lines – Registered Heifers (checking in by breed, look at signs for which chute to go to), Commercial Heifers and Market Beef (Heifers and Steers).  If your registered heifer has a stamp on her papers, then you only have to bring the registrations papers to check in at the appropriate table.

***PLEASE REVIEW THE OPEN LETTER FROM THE GNFA!!! Remember that there should be no ALCOHOL possession or consumption at a junior event.  Leave your bad attitudes and unethical behavior at home!  Also, NO DOGS in the barns or show arenas.  It is not safe for the youth and their livestock.

We are very grateful to have one of the premier livestock facilities in the country and we need to make sure to keep it clean.  Please keep your bedding areas neat and pick up your mess – especially on days when cattle are being fitted.  There will be trash cans available in the barns – USE THEM!!!!

Sincerely,

The Beef Cattle Leadership Team
