----------------------------Original message---------------------------- > > I am not acquainted with Martini. Can someone help here? > Sure. Martini is the nickname of "martini.eecs.umich.edu", where a Geographic Names Information Server is found. If an Internet user can type "telnet martini.eecs.umich.edu 3000", you will be connected interactively; help is available, and it is quite useful for general queries. To satisfy anyone's curiosities, the number 3000 is the port number of the telnet link to that site. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you put the number 3000 after the sitename in order to use the Name Server, or else you will get a login prompt for that system, which is *not* what you want. By the way, the IP number for that server is '141.212.99.9 3000' if you do not use a nameserver; note the port number after the IP number is similarly significant. -- John N Schmidt KD4EAI, Lab Director + 615-898-5561 M-F 1300-2230Z <7-4:30> Middle Tennessee State University ++ 615-898-5538 or 615-896-2871 FAX 24H 1500 Greenland Drive, PO Box 135 +x+ [log in to unmask] via the Internet Murfreesboro, TN 37132-0135 USA +xx+ MTSU Center for Remote Sensing and GIS AX.25-TCP/IP Adr [44.34.50.50] +xxx+ Home of Packet/Internet gateway W4EFQ
