----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Debra, excuse me but we have been here before. Many black students at Berkeley no longer support preferential admissions because they believe it implies that black students cannot compete on merit. And many of their non-black collegues feel the same. This business with women in CS sounds very similar. Does this mean that unqualified women will be given PhDs to retain grant funding? Does that mean that women with PhDs will be assumed to be incompentent beans in some giant bean counting game? This is extremely unfair to men and women. Too bad it is sooooo PC.
