----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Hello All, This message is being cross-posted so please forgive if you are on both Maps-L and Geonet-L. There was a recent request for information on how to find USGS information. If you have access to a Gopher system, you might want to look for them on Gopher. They have a substantial amount of map data available for FTP. Their phone book is also available. Below, you will find the routes that I go through to get to USGS (I actually have them bookmarked). Your system may or may not be organized like our's, so you may have to go exploring. Linda Zellmer Start Gopher Select Gopher Servers World Wide Select Gopher Jewels (Gopher by subject category) Select the Geology & Oceanography subject category. USGS is entered as US Geological Survey (USGS) For the USGS Telephone Book Select Campus Phone Books World Wide Select Other Institutions (not your own campus) Select North America Keep Paging down to the U's and you will find USGS. I have used the phone book system several times in response to patron requests. It even has e-mail addresses!
