In addition, there is limited information on the services provided by NTIS, as well as access to many of the free files that are available from the dialup/telnet FedWorld interface. The FedWorld homepages are being updated and improved on an almost daily basis, so if you aren't impressed yet, you will be later! We expect that depository library access to the NTIS Biliographic Database Preview File to be first available from the FedWorld Web site. Access to the Preview File from the telnet/dialup site will follow in the very near future. While the public will be able to browse and search the abstracts in the Preview File for free, registered depository libraries will be able to select documents that were not available under Title 44. Imformation on how to register will be posted to Govdoc-L in the coming weeks. FedWorld Telnet/FTP Site News The FedWorld Telnet site now supports up to 50 simultaneous connections. Telnet to fedworld.gov or use the actual I.P. address of 192.239.92.201. If all 50 connections are in use, you will be put onto a list to wait for the next available connection. Please remember that all free files that are on the telnet site can be transferred using File Transfer Protocol from ftp.fedworld.gov (192.239.92.205). Directories at the FTP site have the same names as the Libraries at the Telnet site. Each FTP directory has a <directory name>.LST file that lists a description of each file in that directory. This list file is updated every morning. White House documents available from the telnet site can now be searched using keywords assigned by artificial intelligence software at MIT. >From the W-house Library of Files menu, select option F (find files) and then option K (search by keyword). Keywords tend to be very general - security, world and order, economy, healthcare, crime, state names, executive and act, etc.. Starting this week, NTIS will accept orders to access the Department of Labor's Service Contract Act (SCA) database on FedWorld. For subscription information on the SCA database, please call (703)487-4630.
