Story as the new head of the Geography and Map Division's Cataloging Unit, effective March 20, 1995. In this posiition she will exercise overall responsibility for directing the operations of the Cataloging Unit, including supervising a staff of 14 atlas catalogers, map catalogers, and technical information specialists, maintaining the Division's "Map Cataloging Manual," and serving as liaison to Library of Congress committees dealing with cataloging. The Cataloging Unit catalogs cartographic materials in all formats, including maps, atlases, globes, microforms, relief models, and, after the implementation of format integration, digital spatial data sets. Ms. Story has extensive cataloging experience in a variety of formats. She began her career as a Motion Picture Cataloging and Processing Librarian in the Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division in 1976. After a leave absence to return to school, she worked as a Copyright Cataloger in the Audiovisual Section of the Copyright Office's Cataloging Division from 1985 to 1987. Ms. Story then returned to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division where she held the position of Cataloger from 1987 to 1990. In October 1990 Ms. Story joined the staff of the Geography and Map Division as an Atlas Cataloger. During 1993 and 1994 she served as Acting Head of the Division's Cataloging Unit, supervising a staff of 13 atlas and map catalogers and technical information specialists, for two two-month rotations.
