----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Hello, How many of you heard the NPR interview with the physicist from Berkeley about his new book _Silicon Snake Oil_, criticizing the loss of paper card catalogs, and the concept of digital libraries. He doesn't feel that access from a distance is that useful. Knowing that LC has a book doesn't do him much good (has he EVER used Interlibrary Loan?) Finally, he ended the interview saying we need more librarians and books, not more equipment. Gee, didn't Berkeley CLOSE their library school? Amused and amazed, Linda Zellmer
