The Planetarium is located in a landmark building on Chicago's lakefront. PROGRAM (STS CO-SPONSORED) "When Selectors Collide: The Challenge of Interdisciplinary Scholarship for Collection Development". Sunday, June 25, 1995 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Hyatt Regency - Toronto. Collection Development for the Practitioner Committee, CMDS, ALCTS; with co-sponsors: RASD-CODES (Collection Development and Evaluation Section) ACRL-WSS (Women's Studies Section), and ACRL-STS (Science and Technology Section). Panelists: Joan Ariel, Women Studies Librarian and Academic Coordinator, University of California, Irvine; Craig Likness, Associate Director, Public Services and Collections, Trinity University; Bill Robnett, Director, Central-Science Library, Vanderbilt University. Scholarship is increasingly crossing the boundaries of established disciplines at the same time that electronic information formats are altering traditional modes of scholarly communication. In the face of these concurrent changes, how well do the practices and organization of collection development activities serve the selector? The panelists will discuss how they meet the challenges of selecting, budgeting, managing collections and organizing collection development in the new environment.
