----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The reproduction of Canadian Bird's Eye Views by the Historical Maps Committee of ACMLA is welcome news. I am looking forward to seeing them and there is a group of patrons who will find them useful additions to the University of Florida Map & Imagery Lib. I was wondering if Cheryl would post on MAPS-L the complete addresses for obtaining the series. There have been several calls from people who do not have them readily available. Perhaps you would also consider mentioning any of the other reproductions that are still available from ACMLA? Also I wanted to thank the members of the List who have taken the time to post announcements concerning the availability of maps, atlases, etc. This information is appreciated and has led to the acquisition of some under- publicized items from associations, professional societies and small publishers. Additionally the information on map and imagery Web sites has been quite useful. To show my appreciation, I am posting information on two Florida publishers for those who might want county level maps of the State: Florida County Highway Maps at a scale of 1:126,726. Bk and Wh, 18" x 28". Each county is covered in one/two map sheets and published within the last few years. Price: $0.32 plus tax a map sheet. A set is available for $24.60. Order from State of Florida, Department of Transportation, Map & Publications, Tallahassee, FL 63363, Att: Map Sales. (these are basic but useful road maps showing all level of roads, towns, and Township/Range/Sections. They are frequently used as base maps by county agencies and consultants for their maps) Florida County Plat Directory and Atlas for _______County. Most 8 1/2" x 11" and from the mid-1990's. Published by a commerical firm of: Florida Plats, 1213 Bowman St., Clermont, FL 34711. Toll free Phone: 1-800-394-8316, Fax # 904-394-8316. Spiral bound books with reduced copies of property ownership maps in Bk & Wh. (shows ownership and acreage for sites of more than 5 acres. Arranged by Township/Range/Sections plus all level roads, and town) These maps are not as exciting or colorful as historical map reproductions! However, their availability is not widely known even within the State. HelenJane Armstrong, University of Florida Map & Imagery Library. [log in to unmask]
