This workshop is designed to introduce GIS to reference and documents librarians who have had little or no experience with maps. Participants will review basic map concepts and gain an understanding of the technical concepts of GIS and spatial digital data, e.g. TIGER (U.S. Census) data. The primary goal of the workshop is to introduce librarians to ArcView and allow for a hands-on workshop. Instructors are Jim Minton, Associate Prof. and Head of the Cartographic Information Center at the University of Tennessee and Dr. Joanne Logan, Associate Prof. of Plant & Soil Science at the University of Tennessee. Cost is $155 for SOLINET members and $225 for non-SOLINET & FEDLINK.
