----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Some of the best militaryt maps are those prepared by the Dept of Military Art and Engineering at U. S. Military Academy West Point. Their " Military History and Atlas of the Napoleonic Wars" published by Praeger would probably be a good starting point. West Point also authored similar sets of maps "West Point Atlas of American Wars" West Point Atlas of the Civil War", "Campaign Atlas of WW II". Another series, published mostly in Britain, "World Atlas of Military History" was first authored by Arthur Banks and completed by other authors. Hope this helps. Some of wars and even major battles have home pages sypported by military historians on the World Wide Web. You might try a few searches. Maureen Farrell Map Collection, Cleveland Public Library
