----------------------------Original message---------------------------- ANNOUNCEMENT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON LAND TENURE AND ADMINISTRATION Orlando, Florida November 13-15, 1996 This conference will provide an international forum for discussing current land tenure and land administration initiatives in emerging nations and regional economies. The first day of the conference will deal with economic, legal and equity issues surrounding land policy. It will also include a discussion of land tenure issues relating to indigenous rights, privatization of land and its resources, formal versus informal and customary land tenure systems, and the environment. The second and third days of the conference will focus on institutional and technical issues and address strategies in land administration. Topics covered include identifying critical project design parameters, reforming existing cadastre and land registration systems, promoting community-level solutions, the role of information system technologies, and decentralization of land administration institutions.
