----------------------------Original message---------------------------- I was wondering if any of the Map Librarians or other LIST members would be attending the Annual Confernce of the American Water Resources Association being held in Fort Lauderdale, FL. on September 22-26th? The theme this year is GIS and Water Resources. There are a variety of papers on ARCINFO and ARCVIEW use in managing water resources. A number of presen- tations deal with some of the water problems in Florida including the Everglades. The University of Florida has many faculty and graduate students doing research in this area. I plan on attending the full Conference and would be interested in getting togather with any of the Map Librarians, etc. who may be attending. If anyone is interested, please contact me at the Conference Hotel. Just a note for those individuals who think attending a Convention in Florida is just a chance to get to the beach. This Conference is being held in a lovely resort in a golfers paradise--directly adjacent to the Everglades! All the field trips including my preconference one, are going into the Everglades or other swamps! By the way some of you might be interested in looking at satellite imagery for south Florida. On ColorInfrd the drainage patterns of the "River of Grass" are outstanding. Also the agriculture such as sugarcane can clearly be seen infringing on the wetlands. Yes, I definately will be taking lots of maps and Remote Sensing Images along on my field trip. HelenJane Armstrong, University of Florida Map & Imagery Library
