The bivalve, that is. Pandora is a strange, rather flat bivalve with an
inequivalve shell. It was named by Brugie`re in 1797, when not all of the
names from Greek myth had yet been taken.
 
Why did Brugie`re choose the name Pandora for this particular bivalve? What
is known about its natural history? I am curious, now that Makuabob has
opened Pandora's box.
