OK, So I'll reply. Criticism is not aimed at museum personnel. Certainly, they are deeply dedicated; and without their help at a number of major museums, our work on the Wentletrap Book could not proceed. But decisions are made, mostly by board members, about what and how much will be displayed and how that material will be "protected" from the public. Here at the Cincinnati Museum, we had a wonderful shell room with exciting displays. Our Ralph Dury died and was replaced by a team that was not interested in shells but in birds. The shell room was emptied and replaced by pictures of birds. I guess if you are a bird lover, that was a progressive move. Even in some of the other museums I have been to, all the "good stuff" is in areas not open to the public. It's hard to know how we inspire the coming generation if they classed as the "public" and not at least teased by some of the "good Stuff". Art
