Dear Marlo and EJ;
    You understand that this isn't really my project. Someone asked
how many species of mollusks there are. What I figured was that the
answer might be approximated if it could be broken down into areas in
which verious experts might excercize their expertise. Len Brown,
Bruce Neville and myself "estimate" that there are about 630 members
of the Epitoniidae family. That's about as far as we can go. There
are undiscovered members of the family. There are also (probably)
extinctions taking place. Do we know all the existing families? Is
there an expert on each of them? Is the question itself important
enough for someone act as host-gatherer-of-statistics? Maybe it can
be someone's hobby.
