Dear Hiroshi, Yes, DSSAT uses its maximum grain filling rate during what it calls the effective grain filling period. But I am not sure how G3 is normally computed; perhaps persons with more Ceres-Maize experience can tell. If processing of experimental data ignores small weight increments before and after the linear grain filling phase, and if those increments are allocated to the linear phase, maximum grain filling rate will be slightly over-estimated. This is not noticed if this maximum grain filling rate is used accordingly, as of course Ceres-Maize itself does.
