Folks:

Many of you are aware of the Earth As Art series--these are a selection of
Landsat scenes around the world that are beautiful! And they show deltas,
mountains, and other stunning features. This email contains some new
developments related to the Earth As Art scenes.

1. Earth As Art price increase - The price of Earth As Art prints has been
changed from $30 to $75 per print, to align with the current COFUR policy
set by the USGS. Product codes and delivery times remain the same.

2. Earth As Art 2 is released - 45 new prints have been made available as
the Earth As Art 2 collection. Each paper print is $75, and digital files
are available at $15 each, plus the Media Base Charges of $45 (CD), $60
(DVD) or $30 (FTP Download). These can be viewed by accessing the EDC
Image Gallery at http://edc2.usgs.gov/imagegallery.

** Folks--take a look at these - really impressive. Even if you just look
at the online version, excellent.
It is wonderful to examine physical features and human settlement from all
across the globe,
hypothesizing about how much each area is changing in relationship
to other areas, why the changes are occurring, the climate in each of the
regions, the relationship of climate, landforms, vegetation, and
population,
and more.

3. Free FTP Download Available - Both Earth As Art and Earth As Art 2
images can be downloaded free of charge, from each preview page on the EDC
Image Gallery (http://edc2.usgs.gov/imagegallery).

*** GIS users, in particular: These downloadable Landsat images are the
FULL image, not just a
thumbnail. You should right-click on the file to save it - simply clicking
on the file didn't work in my browser. The files are very large; don't do
this over a phone line, but if you save the file, you can then bring them
into a GIS. Note--they are TIFs but do not include georeferencing. I've
placed a request with our USGS staff in South Dakota for the georeferencing
information to be provided, so stay tuned. At the moment, you'll have to
georeference them in a GIS with a vector file as the base, perhaps from the
Global GIS CD series.
