Call for Papers

34th Annual Conference of the Australian Map Circle

Call for Papers
The Conference Committee invites proposals for papers. Each presenter will be allotted approximately 30 minutes. Papers related to any aspect of maps or mapping (historic or contemporary) are welcome. Proposals should include a short abstract, affiliation details, brief biography, the type of presentation facility you require, and contact details. Please submit proposals for papers by 30 September 2005 to:

Audience
The conference will be of particular interest to map librarians, collectors of maps (new and old) and those involved in the spatial sciences. We would particularly like to encourage submissions from students.

Provisional Program
Sunday 12th February
Early afternoon: optional technical tour of Kings Park. Early registration and welcome BBQ at Trinity College.

Monday 13th February
Official opening of Conference. The morning session will be devoted to the presentation of papers. In the afternoon, participants will take part in technical sessions involving excursions to the State Library of Western Australia and to Geological Survey of Western Australia.

Tuesday 14th February
The morning session will be devoted to the presentation of papers. Tuesday's technical sessions will involve visits to Digital Mapping Solutions and the Maritime Museum in Fremantle. The evening will feature a Batavia Lecture given by Bill Richardson at the Maritime Museum, followed by the Conference Dinner.

Wednesday 15th February
Morning presentation of papers. The afternoon will include a poster session, and the Conference will conclude with the Annual General Meeting.

Registration and Accommodation
A registration brochure and provisional program will be distributed in early October. A range of accommodation facilities (from motel style rooms to student accommodation, both including breakfast) are available at Trinity College.
