Hello Alan,

I recently had a massive giveaway of large-scale foreign topo maps. I gave
what I could to libraries (asked for postage reimbursement for over $50),
and then contributed maps to the library's booksale (benefitting United Way,
a local charity, by $900 Cdn.). The remaining foot-high stack of maps went
to the university's daycare. All in all, I think we made the best effort we
could, but it took a lot of staff time. I started the project in June and
with two part-time assistants had to clear our storage area by end of
November, of about 90,000 airphotos and probably 10,000 maps (in addition to
our usual work); the last of the requested maps for libraries were sent out
in January.

Hi all,
,
More large scale maps for you to scour over and add to your
collections - hopefully.

While we are on the subject, what does everyone else do with paper
maps that are no longer needed and cannot be circulated elsewhere?
We, in the UK, hate to just bin them but there seems to be little
choice left.

Go to the following page:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/files/lis-maps/
and then click on the files starting 'Surplus_1:10,000'.
