THE ROYAL SCOTTISH GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY

PROJECT: 'Images for All: Making the Collections Work'

We are seeking to fill two 2-Year Project posts based at our Headquarters in Glasgow which are housed in the University of Strathclyde. The posts are temporary and are funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund together with the Royal Scottish Geographical Society

  (a) Senior Information Officer & Project Manager - £18,000 - £22,000 p.a.
  (b) Information Officer - £13,000 - £18,000 p.a.

Applicants for both posts are expected to have professional qualifications, preferably to graduate or post-graduate level, or equivalent, in librarianship, archive administration or information management, though qualifications or relevant experience in geography, cartography, Geographical Information Systems, or in museum work will also be considered.

An enthusiasm for geography, travel, maps and Scottish heritage and culture would be an advantage

o  For the senior post, experience in project management and good inter-personal and communication skills are essential

o  Computer literacy is essential for both posts as is a working knowledge and experience of database management preferably in a library or archive context, web accessibility and image management

o  Experience in the handling of large documents, maps, glass lantern slides and other specialist items, is desirable for both posts

o  Depending on the combination of skills and experience there may be opportunity for part-time appointment  or job-sharing, within the two-year period
