Shuttle Radar Shuttle Radar Topography Mission Workshop

When the Space Shuttle Endeavour looked down on Earth, in February 2000,
the radar system onboard captured the most accurate and complete
topographic coverage of the Earth’s surface that has ever been assembled.
The mission, a joint effort between NASA and NGA, produced over 12
terabytes of topographic data which are now archived and distributed by the
USGS National Center for EROS.

What: A workshop is being convened to document the many uses of this
dataset and promote collaboration among the international user community,
and highlight such state-of-the art applications as geologic mapping,
earthquake research, glacier movement monitoring, flood control, hydrologic
modeling, and vegetation mapping.

Who: Sponsored by the USGS, the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA), the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA),
the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, and the
Committee on Earth Observation Satellites,

Where: USGS National Center, 12201 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA

When: June 14-16, 2005
